Federal Companies of East Peoria received the 2012 Green Company of the Year award from the East Peoria Chamber of Commerce at their annual event on January 18. Federal was recognized for the range of environmentally-friendly initiatives the company has recently undertaken including:
Replacement of all light fixtures with T8 high-efficiency fixtures with motion sensors;
Adaptation of the SmartWay fleet program, a public/private collaboration between the EPA and the freight transportation industry that helps improve fuel efficiency and emissions;
Exclusive use of EPA-approved cleaning agents;
Recycling of all cardboard boxes and paper products;
A donation of 100 acres of Illinois River wetlands to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources; and
Development of its Scan on Demand solution that allows customers to retrieve documents electronically (as opposed to physical delivery of paper records)
Co-owners Jeff Bogdan, Bill Cirone and Randall Schrock accepted the award from Chamber President Mark Hanback. “On behalf of all of our employees, we thank the East Peoria Chamber, our customers and our stakeholders for this award,” stated Cirone, President of Federal. “We all can do our part to reduce the strain on our natural resources and make a positive contribution to our community.”
