Gordon-Booth Helps Seniors Protect Against Identity Theft

PEORIA, IL – State Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth (D-Peoria) is partnering with Illinois Attorney General’s Office to present Silver Beats, a consumer protection education program. The Attorney General’s Office will be on hand to offer senior citizens tips on how to protect themselves from being victims of identity theft. The event is free of charge and will be held on Monday, February 4 at 11:30 a.m. at YMCA located at 7000 N. Fleming Lane in Peoria.

“Identity theft is a serious problem and all too often the targets of this crime are seniors,” said Gordon-Booth. “This event will arm seniors with the knowledge that they need to protect themselves from being victims of identity theft. I urge anyone who has had questions about checks that came in the mail or received unsolicited phone calls to come and learn more.”
