During Red Cross Month, the Central Illinois Chapter is recommitting to serving our community
PEORIA, ILLINOIS — The American Red Cross works hard to provide today’s youth with the knowledge and skills to lead safe and healthy lives. With this goal in mind, our youth education provides a variety of programs, projects, and courses for youth in grades K-12.
Red Cross youth instructors visit classrooms across central Illinois and provide free youth education on subjects ranging from handwashing and hygiene to the dangers of drinking and driving. All Red Cross youth class are interactive, fun and free. Last year, the Central Illinois Chapter reached 37,799 young people through the youth program.
“Each year, thousands of children seek medical treatment for injuries that could have been prevented,” said Monica Grugett, Youth Education Director. “Our Red Cross youth courses are designed to address real issues that children face and help them to make better choices and respond to emergencies.”
During Red Cross Month, the Central Illinois Chapter would like to encourage more schools and youth serving organizations to schedule classes. Interested parties should contact Monica.Grugett@redcross.org.
