The Red Cross is continuing to respond to the rapidly rising waters in central Illinois. Currently, we have 5 shelters open and ready to receive evacuees. We are assessing the needs with local officials in other communities with flood waters. The Red Cross is preparing to respond should the need arise.

We have had numerous people stop by shelters for information and food, but only 10 people stayed in shelters last night. Supplies (cots, blankets, food, water and hygiene items) were delivered last night to all shelter locations. 150 meals were served to evacuees and 100 meals were fed to sandbaggers.
The response has now reached a level that we are requesting the assistance of our friends and neighbors. Please donate to the Red Cross by visiting www.redcross.org/donate or calling 1-800-RED-CROSS. Any gift, large or small, can make all the difference to flood victims in central Illinois.
