The Salvation Army Marks 25 Years of Family Shelter

Ray LaHood to Speak at Luncheon/ Ribbon Cutting Planned for Friday

PEORIA – The Peoria Salvation Army is marking the 25th anniversary of its Family Shelter and “Shelter from the Storm” will be the focus of The Salvation Army Annual Community Luncheon to be held at the Peoria Civic Center tomorrow, May 9. The Honorable Ray LaHood will be the featured speaker.

The event, which starts at 11:45 a.m., recognizes community leaders and celebrates the work and mission of The Salvation Army in the Peoria Tri County area. At the luncheon there will be entertainment from Students Speaking Out, Students Stepping Out and numerous award presentations.

The Peoria Tri County Salvation Army will also hold a ceremonial ribbon-cutting on Friday, May 10 at 10 am to mark 25 years of its Family Shelter in Peoria. Area dignitaries, Ray LaHood and Salvation Army officials will be on hand and there will be a brief ceremony and an open house afterwards. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 10 at the Family Shelter at 417 NE Adams.
