Peoria Housing Authority is celebrating 75 years of service in 2013. In the past 75 years, Peoria and its needs have grown and evolved. As a result, the Peoria Housing Authority has changed to meet those needs. The PHA has grown to include Public Housing Units, Housing Choice Vouchers, Home Ownership programs and the Vouchers for Veterans program. There has also been an expansion of programs to meet other community needs such as Access to Resource & Referral Opportunities and Family Self-sufficiency Programs.

The Peoria Housing Authority is also establishing an educational endowment with the net proceeds from the Anniversary Banquet. The Aurthur Mae Perkins Educational Endowment will assist residents in any certified educational program or university of their choosing. Mrs. Perkins has been a proponent for residents’ rights and educational opportunities during her tenure as a commissioner of the Peoria Housing Authority board.

The banquet will take place on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Peoria Marriott Peré Marquette in the Marquette Ballroom. The event begins with a cocktail reception and silent auction at 5:30 p.m. followed by a seated dinner and program at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $40.00 per person until September 16, 2013, after this date tickets will be $60.00 per person. Peoria Housing Authority is inviting everyone in the community to join in celebrating this wonderful event.
