Wildlife Prairie Park PowWow Event – Native American cultural weekend with demonstrations and activities to take place

HANNA CITY, IL – Saturday and Sunday (April 26th and 27th) Wildlife Prairie Park will be hosting an array of activities and vendors pertaining to Native American culture. Starting at 10:00 am, Seven Circles Heritage Center will perform the Bison Blessing Ceremony at the Bison Pasture Overlook. Those interested in seeing the ceremony should arrive promptly at 10:00 am.

Following the Bison Blessing Ceremony will be the PowWow. The PowWow will feature numerous Native American crafts, activities, and live demonstrations including drum circles and dancing. Vendors will also be set up selling related merchandise.

“The Bison Blessing is a custom of preparing the land for a good and healthy year, and the PowWow afterwards is the celebration of the Blessing. There are plenty of activities and engaging things for people of all ages to enjoy,” says Melissa Sauder, event coordinator.

The event is free to all Wildlife Prairie Park members. Those in attendance who are not members at the Park will need to pay the general admission price. Two-Day Passes for the event are available for non-members. The passes can be purchased for the cost of general admission plus the cost of half another day’s general admission. The two-day pass must be purchased before Sunday, April 27,
2014.
