American Mausoleum to Host Memorial Service

Peoria – Peoria County State’s Attorney Jerry Brady is pleased to announce that the American Mausoleum will host a Memorial Service in honor of Memorial Day on Saturday, May 24 at 10:30 a.m. Vietnam Veteran Bruce Thiemann will serve as the guest speaker, joined by Floyd Henderson, Chaplain of the Honor Guard for American Legion Post 979. The Honor Guard will conduct the Presentation of Colors, and a 21-gun salute will also be performed during the ceremony. The mausoleum is located at 7911 N. Allen Rd in Peoria and the public is invited to attend.

Mr. Thiemann served in the United States Army from 1969-1970 as a helicopter door gunner and crew chief with B Troop, 7thSquadron, 1st Air Cavalry Regiment, in air assault operations where his unit was based near Vinh Long. A fourth generation Peorian, Mr. Thiemann graduated from Woodruff High School in 1967 and used the GI Bill to continue his education at Southern Illinois University, ’75, and Washington College of Law of the American University, receiving a law degree in 1978He has practiced law in Peoria since then and is currently a partner with the Kavanagh Law Firm. Mr. Thiemann has been active in veterans’ causes and currently serves as the vice-chairman of the Peoria County Veterans Memorial Committee.

Persons attending next Saturday’s service will be able to enjoy the mausoleum’s recent renovations, including rehabilitation to the gazebo, fresh paint, and plumbing improvements.
