Peoria – The City of Peoria Municipal Band continues its 77th continuous season by playing three concerts this week.
On Friday, July 25 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Philomena Church (3216 N Emery Ave), the Band performs their only Friday evening performance of the season. Katie Burnham and Anton Grasch will be there to sing in this one hour performance. Guest should bring their own lawn chairs.
The Peoria Municipal Band was formed in 1937 through the efforts of Local 26 of the American Federation of Musicians and interested citizens. Current band members come from all walks of life, many are currently music teachers in the local schools. They are selected by audition and then commit to a full season of rehearsals and performance. Hundreds of thousands of people have enjoyed their music since 1937. Today, with the support of the City, the band continues the long-standing tradition of excellence in music. The Peoria Municipal Band plays free concerts at 7:00 p.m. each Wednesday in the Warehouse District and each Sunday in Glen Oak Park through August 10.
