It Can Happen To You

Peoria – Peoria County emergency management experts will present “It Can Happen To You,” a free public workshop from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, at ICC’s North Campus. This workshop is a National Emergency Preparedness Month event offered through ICC’s Adult Community Programs and is intended for anyone who wants to become better prepared before disaster strikes.

Emergency management personnel will discuss preparedness steps, explain how to identify points of contact and create an emergency plan, and describe how to build an emergency supply kit for your home and auto. While the workshop is free, registration is recommended due to limited seating: visit www.icc.edu/acp (select “Know Your Community” from the catalog) or call 690-6900 to register.

The same registration information may also be used to register for Peoria County’s “Protect Yourself” workshop on October 16, and “Sustainability for the Entire Community” on November 20. During the “Protect Yourself” workshop, Peoria County Sheriff’s personnel will describe and demonstrate self defense techniques that may help save your life. On November 20, participants will learn about Peoria County’s efforts to conserve resources and how you can take some simple sustainable steps at home to also help preserve the environment.
