Pro-abortion rights advocates celebrate “365 for Choice”
Local not-for-profit counter-protests “40 Days for Life”
Peorians for Reproductive Health Care invites the public and media to attend a peaceful rally and counter-protest this Sunday, November 1st in front the St. Vincent de Paul church and the Women’s Care Center of Peoria, showing our community support for a woman’s choice to make medical decisions which affect her own body.
For years, anti-abortion groups have been shaming women who choose the right to design their own destinies. Every year, they run a campaign called “40 Days for Life” which mirrors the 40-day transitional periods often used in the Bible. Local religious institutions (including schools, which use this option allowing students to accumulate service hours for school credit) in Peoria use this 40-day period to increase their protests in front of the national health care clinic and in front of their church on North University.
Because they are so adamant about inserting themselves and imposing their views in front of Whole Woman’s Health of Peoria, it seems appropriate to introduce ourselves and defend our rights in front of their church, where they generate, regurgitate, and perpetuate anti-choice values to the young and old alike. Anti-choice groups also intentionally redirect traffic to the Women’s Care Center, which offers misleading information and urges women not to consider their options and instead go through with an unwanted pregnancy. PRHC hosts its last “365 for Choice” rally of 2015 to peacefully counter-protest the anti-abortion campaign and its political and religious agendas.
