Peoria County Company to be Recognized for Growth & Innovation

Peoria, IL (September 12, 2012)—Every year The Economic Development Council for Central Illinois recognizes two regional companies with the Growth & Innovation Award. The award is presented to one Peoria County and one Tazewell County company that make significant contributions to area communities and demonstrate success and growth. The award recipients are judged on innovative technology, competitive advancement, community leadership, economic diversification and regional expansion.

The Peoria County award will be presented to CPO (Comprehensive Prosthetics & Orthotics) Group Holdings LLC during the regularly scheduled Peoria County Board meeting on Thursday September 13th at 6pm in the County Board Room at the Peoria County Courthouse on Main Street in downtown Peoria. The 2012 Peoria County Growth & Innovation Award is sponsored by sponsored by Central Illinois Bank and presented by the EDC and Peoria County.

EDC President, Vickie Clark, says CPO has experienced double digit growth over the last several years, as an independent practice. “The company has a highly trained, experienced and compassionate team that is on the leading edge of technology, using the most innovative devices and techniques available today. Over the years, huge medical strides have been made in the manufacturing and technology of prostheses and orthoses and CPO is at the forefront of these advancements.”

CPO outgrew its previous facilities and was forced to make do with less than optimal clinical as well as technical facilities. The owners always wanted to create a center of excellence for Prosthetics & Orthotics services with state of the art treatment programs as well as research, which fits well with Peoria’s bid to becoming a major health and biotech center. CPO found an existing facility at 725 and 741 West Main Street in the Renaissance Park area that lent itself to such a center. Total project cost was over $2 million. The Project has resulted in 8 full time equivalent (FTE) new hires and the retention of 7 FTE employees.

The Tazewell County Growth & Innovation Award winner will be announced later this month.
