“Elections and Fiscal Cliff: Now What?”

Join the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce for “Elections and Fiscal Cliff: Now What?” Part of the Chamber’s Government Affairs Series. Guest speakers will be Doug Whitley, President & CEO of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and Cholly Smith, Manager of Great Lakes Region for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. This lunch and panel discussion will focus on legislative issues at the federal and state level that will impact the business community in 2013. Mr. Smith and Mr. Whitley will also share their thoughts on key issues and votes in the new General Assembly and the 113th Congress.

Chamber President Roberta Parks, says this is one of the many efforts the Chamber is taking to enhance its government affairs activities and become the leading voice for business in the region through political advocacy. “We aim to educate and inform regional business leaders while increasing grass roots political participation and events like this are a great way to get regional leaders more involved and up to speed on what’s happening. It is important for the business community to get an in depth look at what is happening at the state and federal level because it has a significant impact on them.”

Join us on January 7th at 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Peoria NEXT Innovation Center at 801 West Main Street in Peoria. Cost is $15 for Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce members and $30 for non-members. Click here to register: http://peoriachamber.org/event/elections-and-fiscal-cliff-now-what
