In face of petition challenge, Dan Adler vows to stay in the race for City Council post
Peoria, IL (December 4, 2012) – Today, Dan Adler responded to his petition challenge by vowing to stay in the race. Adler said he takes responsibility for the paperwork he submitted. “To the best of my understanding of the election code, I tried to meet all the requirements for the filing, and I accept responsibility for any missing information,” he said. “However, I do not accept the premise that this challenge was an effort to maintain a ‘level playing field’. We should be trying to bring more voices to the table, not less. And if the idea was that this challenge would keep me out of the race, someone’s going to be disappointed.”
Asked about his next steps, Adler said he plans to participate in the electoral board proceedings and explore a write-in candidacy, if needed.
“What I want the people of Peoria to know is that I won’t give up,” Adler said. “I’m going to fight to keep my name on the ballot, and if I need to, take my candidacy to the people as a write-in. I won’t give up on my candidacy just like I won’t give up on Peoria because the conversation we need to have about our city’s direction is too important to allow this hurdle to slow us up.”
