Family Violence Coordinating Council to Sponsor “Stewards of Children” Training

Peoria – The Family Violence Coordinating Council of the 9th and 10th Judicial Circuits and the University of Illinois Extension are sponsoring a “Stewards of Children” training from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12 at the University of Illinois Extension Office, 180 S. Soangetaha Road, Galesburg. This program is intended for organizations that serve children and youth and for adults interested in protecting children. Tamara Guy, Prevention Specialist and certified “Stewards of Children” facilitator, will be presenting the training.

“Stewards of Children” is a revolutionary, evidence-based sexual abuse prevention program that educates adults on preventing, recognizing, and reacting responsibly to child sexual abuse. The training, developed by Darkness to Light, motivates participants to action by teaching:

•An understanding of the seriousness of child sexual abuse
•The simple principles of choice, consciousness, and personal power
•Strategies for the prevention of child abuse
•Proactive, straightforward actions that adults can take
