Easter Seals Receives CVS Caremark Grant

Peoria-Bloomington, July 12, 2013 – Easter Seals received a grant from the CVS Caremark All Kids Can Fund to support professional development in Applied Behavior Analysis.

The grant award will enable additional Easter Seals’ professional staff to obtain certification in Applied Behavior Analysis, increasing the organization’s capacity to expand its Behavioral Services for Autism. A board certified behavior analyst provides individualized behavioral services for children with autism and their families. The goal of
behavioral services is to reduce difficult or unpleasant behavior and teach complicated skills, depending on the needs of the child.

Individualized treatment strategies are developed, and family members and caregivers receive training on how to apply the strategies when problem behaviors occur. Services are provided in the family home, school, daycare, or other community locations.
