WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH AWARDS EVENT

Join us at Peoria NOW’s annual awards ceremony to honor local women who have worked to improve the lives of women and girls. This year’s theme is It’s About Time! Illinois NOW Takes on 2014.

Keynote Speaker: Jonelle Polk McCloud, Manager at Proctor Recreation Center.

Her topic will be “Empowering Young Women.” She will also be given an award for her development of J.E.M.S., a basketball league for local area girls.

Other awards will be given to:
Dr. Linda Lyman, professor at Illinois State University’s College of Education, for her research about educational leadership, particularly her recent book about women leaders in education with an international perspective.
Rosalie Howell, activist and advocate for women’s issues, and founder of Peorians for Reproductive Health Care (PRHC).
CAT (Illinois Choice Action Team) Peoria Clinic Escorts, who assist patients arriving for abortion services at National Health Care, Inc., to find the correct clinic.
Dr. Amy Scott, Director of Women’s Studies at Bradley University, for mentoring young feminists on Bradley’s campus.
