James Mormann has been selected to serve as the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of OSF Healthcare System. He reports to the System CEO. Jim officially began his duties with OSF HealthCare effective April 1, 2010. In the prior 6 months Jim served as the Interim CIO.
As the new CIO, Jim will provide leadership and direction to OSF HealthCare’s internal Management Information Systems (MIS) Division service organization and lead the many key relationships with external vendors that together work to support OSF. His role will serve as a key leader in developing instrumental technology strategies that support the ongoing Vision and Mission of the System and the Sisters. Jim will serve as the primary liaison between MIS and the executives and administrators of each of the OSF operating units.
Jim comes to OSF with more than 22 years of Information Technology in health care. He most recently served as President and CEO of Privvy Inc. a professional information technology consulting and hosting company in Johnston, IA since 2008. Jim previously spent 14 years working for Iowa Health System starting in 1996, first as the Assistant VP and COO of their IT department and from 2000 onward as a Vice President and CIO. As background, Iowa Health System represents a $2 billion operation of 11 hospitals and 135 physician clinics covering roughly 30 percent of Iowa’s health care population. While Jim was CIO, Iowa Health System was a six-time and two-time award winner of Modern Healthcare’s “Most Wired” and “Most Wireless,” respectively and received the “Prometheus award” for Best Use of Technology.
Prior to his roles at Iowa Health, Jim led Clinical Implementation Deployments with PHAMIS, Inc. in Seattle, WA and GTE Health System/Intermountain Healthcare System in Salt Lake City, UT from 1989 to 1994. He earned his BS in Computer Science from the University of Dubuque.
