Music Superstar, Mona J. performs this month in Peoria, Illinois

Her live performance promises to be more than memorable

She’s the girl that everyone’s talking about, and she’s returning to Peoria this month at the Hope Renewed Concert at Illinois Central College, Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 6:00 p.m.

This is not Mona J’s first time in Illinois, four years ago she performed with Grammy-nominated rapper, Sean Slaughter for the Just Add Water Tour, and since then she performed with the best in the industry. From Deitrick Haddon, Kirk Franklin, Tye Tribbett, Fred Hammond, Canton Jones, and even Alvin Slaughter this songwriter, producer is truly music’s next big thing.

“It’s more than just music!” says Mona J., who also teaches High School Chemistry in Portsmouth, VA. Using real-life situations, Mona J’s music is easy to understand and something all can relate to. She‘s been compared to Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, Kim Burrell, India Arie, Mary J. Blige, and many others, but the musical style of this young superstar seems to be a fusion of several genres of music. Traces of Jazz, Gospel, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Soul fill her textured vocal tone, while her approach to life, issues, and the art of songwriting gives her flavor like no other.

Her first album, entitled “Life. Lessons. Truth.”, was solely produced by the Virginia native. Since her first album, Mona J. released an EP called “The Waiting Room”, which includes the hit single “Hey Ladies!” that addresses the negative images of women in society. What started out as a song of frustration has become an anthem for women everywhere because of her empowering lyrics and motivating methods.

The Hope Renewed Concert features Mona J. and the Go In Band, along with many other. For more information, contact Sherry Cannon at (309) 648 – 3445.
