Get a load of these April Peoria Park District activities

KIDS CAN BUILD A RECYCLED BIRDHOUSE – Create and decorate your own birdhouse using recycled materials at the Peoria Park District’s Forest Park Nature Center on Saturday, April 3, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.  The program is open to ages 5 through 10. The fee is $6, with a $1 discount for CORE members. Pre-registration required. Register at www.peoriaparks.org or call 309-686-3360 for more info.

BASEBALL REGISTRATION – The Tee Ball season is from June 8 to July 24 and is for ages 5-6. There are options for playing at Bradley Park, Woodrow Wilson, and Lindbergh. Fee is $39/residents, $44/non-residents.

Coach pitch is for youth in 1st & 2nd grade; their season runs June 7-July 24. Options for playing are at Bradley Park, Woodrow Wilson, & Lindbergh. Fee is $46/residents, $51/non-residents.

Minors (grades 3-4) and Majors (grades 5-6) are divided according to district: Central/Manual play at Franciscan Rec Complex and Proctor Center, Richwoods plays at Kellar School, and Woodruff/Heights play at Von Steuben. The season runs June 1-July 30. Fee for minors is $51/residents, $56/non-residents. Fee for majors is $56/residents, $61/non-residents.

ADULT CO-REC KICKBALL – Relive this classic playground game as an adult! Co-rec teams of 10 players (with at least 5 female players) will attempt to outkick and outrun their opponent with a little friendly and enjoyable competition. The season will be played at Peoria Stadium. Get your teams together! Registration packets are available at the Recreation Office on the second floor of the Glen Oak Pavilion, Franciscan Recreation Complex, RiverPlex, or online at www.peoriaparks.org. HYPERTUFA TROUGH BUILDING CLASS – The Peoria Park District’s Luthy Botanical Garden will hold a “Build a Hypertufa” class on Saturday, April 17, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Hypertufas are stone containers that resemble Old English carved watering troughs. They’re great for herbs, alpine plants, hostas and for adding personality to your patio or porch. This is a popular  class, so sign up early! Bring your own gloves and a piece of wood you can use to carry your creation home.

This class is open to the public, ages 16 & up, and requires pre-registration. The cost is $24 for residents/$27 for non-residents/$22 for Garden members. Register at www.peoriaparks.org or call  686-3362.

ADULT SOFTBALL PROGRAM – Registration packets available now for the Peoria Park District Adult Softball Program. This fourteen game season starts April 26.  Leagues are offered Sunday through Friday evenings. Games are played at Peoria Stadium. Divisions for Men’s 12″, Men’s 35 & Over 12″, Co-Rec 12″, Women’s 11″, Men’s 16″ and Co-Rec 16″ teams are being offered.  Packets available online at www.peoriaparks.org or at the Glen Oak Pavilion.
