Nov. 4 – Neighborhood Leadership Awards Banquet – at Holiday Inn City Centre from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. District 150 Superintendent Grenita Latham will give keynote presentation. Ceremony follows with awards to neighborhood activists.

Nov. 5 – Junction City Holiday Walk – 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. @ Junction City, Peoria Heights. There will be Christmas carolers, carriage rides for the kids, pictures with Santa Claus, hors d’oeuvres, cocktails & goodies in each of our unique shops. Call (309) 740-0808. Admission: FREE.

Nov. 6 – 3rd Annual Veterans Day Parade to be hosted by the Wayne A. Downing American Legion Post 1111 in Peoria Heights. The parade starts on Marietta Avenue and ends at Tower Park. Featured speaker: Hal Fritz, retired Lt. Colonel, U.S. Army, Medal of Honor recipient for heroic action in Viet Nam. Mayor Mark Allen will welcome all to the parade.

Nov 6 – Handmade Crafts, Candy and Bake Sale will be held to benefit the B’Nai B’rith Residents Assoc. from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at 215 W. Sam J. Stone Ave. A Pull-Pork Barbeque lunch will be available.

Nov. 7 – Remembering Peoria – 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Gateway Building – on Peoria’s RiverFront. Tickets: $5.00. Event sponsored by the neighborhood Alliance, NFP. Nov. 11 – The Peoria County Genealogical Society general meeting: @ 101 State Street at 7:00 p.m. Guest speaker: Norm Kelly, a well-known historian in the Peoria area. His book, “Until You Are Dead,” is available at the Peoria Public Library.

Nov. 11 – 14 – The Peoria Park District’s Community Children’s Theatre presents their fall production of “Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.”@ Peoria Players Theatre. Nov. 28 – Festival of Lights Parade – 123 Par 3 Lane- East Peoria, IL. The Parade of Lights kicks off the Festival of Lights at 5:45 p.m. This one-night event features a parade of 30-lighted floats that will cruise down the streets of East Peoria along a three-mile route.
