March 3 & 4 – Indoor Spring Garage & Bake Sale at the Peoria Area Blind People’s Center at 2905 W. Garden St. from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Proceeds will help provide meals, transportation and other services for the blind and visually impaired persons in the Peoria area.

March 4 – Church Women United presents World Day of Prayer “How Many Loaves Have You” at 10:00 a.m. at United Presbyterian Church, 2400 W. Northmoor Rd.

March 4 – Cabin Fever Show featuring The Boat Drunks – Food/Drinks @ 6:30 p.m.; Concert @ 8:00 p.m. Packard Plaza/Downtown Peoria. Admission: $12.00. One World is sponsoring a concert for a Jimmy buffet cover band called “The Boat Drunks” at the Packard plaza.

March 5 – April 15 – Bradley International Print and Drawing Exhibition – at Peoria Art Guild, 203 Harrison. Call 637-2787, ext. 2. This exhibition is the second-longest running juried print and drawing competition in the country.

March 5 – “Birding Tour of the Illinois River” – 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Forest Park Nature Center. Call (309) 686-3360; Admission: $35 per person

March 5 – The American Red Cross & the Peoria Humane Society have developed a First Aid course for animal owners. The class is from 9:00 a.m. – noon @ Peoria Humane Society, 2600 NE Perry Ave. Cost: is $35. For info or to register call 672-2447.

March 6 – Fish Fry to Benefit Bel-Wood Nursing Home – Hosted by the Local 974 United Auto Workers Retirees. Open to public. The fund provides a memorable Christmas for every Bel-Wood resident. Tickets for this all-you-can-eat fundraiser are $7 for adults/$3 for children 12 and under.

March 7 – 4th Annual Candlelight Vigil for Whitney’s Walk For Life at 6:00 p.m. at Dingeldine Music Center, 1417 Barker on the campus of Bradley University. Survivors of suicide, community volunteers, and supporters can come together to honor life and remember their loved ones. The event is sponsored by Whitney’s Walk and the Mental Health Association of Illinois Valley. Call 692-1766.

March 8 – The Emory University Concert Choir will perform as part of the First United Methodist Church 2011 Music Concert Series at 7:00 p.m. This choir is considered to be one of the finest collegiate choirs in the country. This is a free concert though a freewill offering will be accepted.

March 10 – The Fine Arts Society of Peoria presents Janet Clanton’s lecture: “Significant Others in Art: Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner” at the Lakeview Museum. Coffee is at 9:25 a.m. Lecture follows at 10:00 a.m. Adult admission is $10; Students $2. Society members are free.

March 10 – The Peoria County Genealogical Society’s monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Branch Library. The featured speaker will be Jerry Klein, formerly an editorial writer and columnist at the Peoria Journal Star, will speak. His topic: “Life Among the Dead & other Adventures.”

March 11 – Preview Evening – Ladies Spa Night- Get Pampered by the Fairies – from 6:00 10:00 p.m. at Mt Hawley Country Club, Peoria, IL. Contact: Lori Reynolds @ 685-9312. Admission: $50.00 Tickets need to be purchased in advance only.

March 11 – 13 & 17 – 20 –”The Women,” directed by Steve Bortolotti is a regional premiere at Peoria Players Theatre! Featuring an all-female cast. 7:30 p.m. on all dates except at 2:30 on March 13 and 20. Tickets: $12 for adults/$9 for patrons 18 & under. Call 688-4473.

March 12 – 3rd Annual Frolic with the Fairies “Aside the Babbling Brook” Luncheon & Style Show from  9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. at  Mt Hawley Country Club, Peoria, IL . March 18 – The Peoria City/County Health Department and the Methodist Wellmobile are offering free prostate screenings for uninsured Peoria County males. If you’re over 50 or African-American and over 40, or have a family history of prostate cancer, you are eligible. To register call 679-6131.

March 20 – The Central Illinois Jazz Society presents CIJS House Band at 6:00 p.m. Featured Guest Group will be the ICC Hard Bop Jazz Band w/Gregg Clemons on Vocals at 7:15 p.m. at the Starting Gate Banquet Room, located in Landmark Recreation Center, 3225 N. Dries Lane.
