Troop 11 is again selling trash bags with sales starting March 4th with delivery in April. A box of 100 bags is $16.00. If you do not hear from a boy scout and want a box of bags please call Bob DeSutter @ 674-6668.

Homeowner’s Rights to Own & Use Guns will be the topic presented by John Brady, Attorney, at Vonachen, Lawless, Trager & Slevin, during the Neighborhood Watch meeting on March 13, 2013. Deputy Vissering will give an update on criminal activity in West Peoria. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. The public is welcome – plan to attend and bring a friend! Burglary – Break-Ins – Vandalism – It takes all of us to work together on this project!

Do you know the history of CityLink, the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District, and how it improves the life for many in our community? You can learn about its history at the March 21, 2013 West Peoria Residents’ Association meeting at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. Mass transportation is an integral part in keeping a community functioning. Attend and learn about mass transit as well as other WPRA activities. The pubic is welcome.

What are you doing on Saturday, March 23rd? There is a live performance by Loch Peoria Highland Dancers at Courtyard Estates, 117 N. Western Ave. Liven up your Saturday afternoon by attending this 1:30 – 2;30 p.m. event. Tickets are $5.00 and may be purchased in advance or at the door. Light refreshments will be available. Any child attending will have a chance to join the dancers and learn a few steps. More information can be learned at 674-2400.

The 2nd Annual West Peoria Senior Health Fair will be held at the Franciscan Recreation Complex on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Lions Club Hearing Lab and Methodist Mammo-Van will be available for examinations. Transportation will be provided within a two mile radius of West Peoria, courtesy of CourtYard Estates. Light refreshments will be provided.

The City of West Peoria, West Peoria Residents’ Association, West Peoria Township and Rebuilding Together have teamed up to rehab a home in West Peoria. They still need volunteers. If you have special skills or just willing to help on April 20th or 27th, please call Maggie Moore at 673-0535 or Sharon Kennedy at 673-2128.

The Annual Township Meeting will be held on Tuesday April 16th at 7:30 p.m. in the West Peoria Township Building. This annual meeting is mandated by state law to be held on this specific day. It is an opportunity for all citizens to come and have a say in their local government.

Government day is Friday, April 12th. This is a program for local middle and high school students to visit both the township and the city offices to learn how local governments operate.

The Annual Clean-up Day will be on Saturday, April 27th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and is for West Peoria residents only. It will be an opportunity to recycle electronics.

New Residents may pick up a Welcome Packet at City Hall Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This packet contains vital information for new residents. House numbers for the rear of your house are also available. These numbers are helpful in emergency situations, re: ambulance and/or fire calls.

If you wish to report a code violation or register a complaint, please contact Code Enforcement Officer Bill O’Neill at 674-1993 or 370-1142. All vehicles without an up-to-date license sticker are considered inoperable and are in violation of City Code. Any vehicle without an up-to-date sticker must be stored in a garage.

Waste Management is the trash pickup provider for the City of West Peoria. Residents are responsible for establishing an account with them. Please call them at 1-800-796-9696 to set up your account. You will be billed for this service. Landscape waste pickup will begin again on the first Friday in April. This service is included in your Waste Management bill.

There are still funds available for the residential paint reimbursement program. This program offers reimbursement of paint costs to residents who wish to paint the exterior of their homes or accessory structures. (sheds, storage units, or garages) Reimbursement will be granted for exterior paint only. Participants who purchase paint in the City of West Peoria will receive reimbursement of 50 % of total paint costs, up to a maximum of $250. For paint not purchased in West Peoria, the maximum amount reimbursed will be 30% of total paint costs, up to $250. Paint is available in West Peoria at West Peoria Hardware, 2504 W. Rohmann Avenue. Reimbursement of receipts will be received upon completion of project.
