Collaboration Between Peoria Park District & Area Businesses, Organizations Make Peoria’s First Annual PNC World Wide Day of Play Possible

The Peoria Park District will hold Peoria’s first annual PNC Worldwide Day of Play on Sat., October 5th from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in Glen Oak Park. Worldwide Day of Play began as an initiative by Nickelodeon and The Big Help to get kids more physically active and to encourage positive, healthy, and playful lifestyles in families across the globe.

The PNC Worldwide Day of Play will consist of family friendly, fun-filled activities throughout Glen Oak Park coordinated by thirteen divisions of Park District departments, including Golf Division, Recreation Division, RiverPlex, Peoria Zoo, Park Division & Heart of Illinois Special Recreation Association.

The Peoria Park District has collaborated with area organizations to bring many entertainment and activities to this year’s PNC Worldwide Day of Play. PNC’s Mobile Learning Adventure will be on-site with a variety of activities for parents and children to explore. The Mobile Learning Adventure is part of PNC’s Grow Up Great program and consists of four activity stations: Children’s Interactive Kiosks; What I Want To Be When I Grow Up Photo Station; Craft Area; Giveaway Table with brochures, activity books, stickers, crayons and more in a PNC Grow Up Great tote bag.

The Junior League of Peoria will be programming the Glen Oak Pavilion porch with story time, arts and crafts, plus Play with Planks. The Peoria Fire Department, District 150 and CityLink are also providing vehicles for the Touch A Truck experience. Kids can also get up close and personal with a tree spade, tow truck, fire engine, animal control vehicle and more in the Touch A Truck area. Visitors will also have the opportunity to visit the Early Childhood Forum Resource Fair

The PNC Worldwide Day of Play will also feature free entertainment at the Amphitheatre. Julie K, a favorite of preschoolers, will kick off our day of fun. She will be followed by an Anti-Bullying Program, ELITE Pulses of Hope Drumline, Zumba, Community Children’s Theatre, Explosion All Star Cheer & Dance Team, and Harmony in Blue, the Jazz Ensemble of the Air National Guard Band of the Midwest.

Free tours of Luthy Botanical Garden are at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and discounted admission to Peoria Zoo is available all day. Visitors of all ages will pay children’s admission prices.
