No money for Illinois learning standards

letterstotheeditorI think it is safe to say that everyone is aware that the State of Illinois is broke.

Christopher Koch, The Illinois Superintendent of Education, has stated that state aid to schools will be reduced.

School districts are reducing staff in an effort to balance their budgets. It is obvious that we do not have the money to implement the Common Core Standards, now called the Illinois Learning Standards. It is time to stop this program which will have a cost of unknown proportions.
