Daniel Kerns was installed as Troop 11’s 70th Eagle Scout on Nov. 13. He is the son of Dan and Barb Kerns, has two older sisters and is a senior at Notre Dame High School. His Eagle project was landscaping and painting a sign at St. Mark’s Catholic Church as well as adding bushes around the parking. The leadership of Troop 11 has consistently worked with their boys to advance in the scouting programs putting in many hours with them. Troop 11 scouts thank everyone who bought wreathes and butter braids that help with fundraising.

City streets will need to be vacated of all parked cars whenever there is snow predicted for 2 inches or more. Vehicles will be ticketed. Park in your drive or make arrangements with someone with off-street parking.

West Peoria has lost another well-established local business with the closing of Geier’s Florist which has served the community for decades.

West Peoria was aglow with decorations this past holiday season. Winners of the home decorating competition: Simplicity, 2403 W. Barker Ave.; Vegas, 2222 W. Laura Ave.; Religious, 2212 W. Rohmann Ave.; Holiday, 2401 W. Callender Ave. The winners received gift cards and holiday cookies from Haddad’s and the West Peoria Residents Association.

As the Page Turns Book Club meets the third Monday of the month-rotating meetings in members’ homes. The February meeting is 6 p.m. Feb. 18.

Neighborhood Watch will meet 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 in City Hall. Sheriff’s Deputy Demery will share details about issues in West Peoria. The Residents Association will meet 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 in City Hall.
