A sincere thank you and appreciation to the West Peorians who volunteered on a hot and humid June 5 to pick up litter in our community. I saw many out doing this clean-up to keep West Peoria clean.

For those still in need of a COVID vaccine, Unity Point Health and CityLink are having a free clinic 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 9 in the CityLink Transit Center at 407 SW Adams St. More information is available on the wellmobile.com website and on posters placed around the community.

There is no Fourth of July Parade and flag raising this year, but plans are now underway for 2022. You can participate in the 2022 event by submitting a family appropriate t-shirt. Send your submission to: office@cityofwestpeoria.com by July 31st or drop it off at City Hall.

Raber’s expects to open later this summer. There were delays due to the pandemic. Fortunately, other new businesses have opened. Grow by Design in the Geier Florist building and DUH, a boutique on Sterling and Rohmann, are two.

Some streets have had speed limits changed to 20 mph because of an excess of speeding this spring. Check your oft-traveled routes to make certain you are aware of the speed limits.

Many fine West Peoria citizens and volunteers have been lost due to COVID. Many are individuals who have helped maintain West Peoria over the years. Remember them to their families and friends and enjoy the nice things they brought to our community.
