The Peoria Art Guild planned to launch “Sculpture Walk 2022” along Washington Street this month with eight different pieces, after input from the Public Arts Advisory Commission and a city engineer, according to City spokeswoman Stacy Peterson. Stelluto

MUSIC

  • Bradley University’s Department of Music has a busy month, presenting 15 events April 2-30 at Dingeldine Music Center, from Big Band music (April 2) and the John Davis Choral Festival (April 8) to a Community Chorus concert (April 17) and a Groove Project/Vocal Jazz show (April 27).
  • Illinois Central College’s Performing Arts Center is presenting two jazz concerts this month: the Vocal Jazz Ensemble April 21 and the Hard Bop Jazz Band April 26.
  • Presented by Heartland Festival Orchestra, “Opera Over the Top” April 23 at Five Points Washington will feature soprano Sarah Jane McMahon and tenor Richard Troxell singing opera and Broadway favorites by Puccini, Rodgers, Rossini, Verdi, and others.
  • The Peoria Symphony Orchestra’s April 23 concert at the Peoria Civic Center Theater was been changed from “Russian Wonders” to “Unity with Ukraine” after Russia’s invasion, dropping planned works by Russian composers. PSO Music Director George Stelluto has performed in Ukraine and made his international debut there in 2000.

STREAMING

Premiering April 24 on Starz, the limited series Gaslit features Julia Roberts as Martha Mitchell, the wife of Watergate-era Attorney General John Mitchell (Sean Penn) who exposed some of the scandal.

COMEDY

Brian Regan will perform April 28 at the Peoria Civic Center Theater.

CINEMA

Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock and Michael Shannon star in Bullet Train, an adaptation of a pulp crime novel set for an April 8 release.

TELEVISION

A new dance competition series, Come Dance With Me, will start April 15 on CBS, with young dancers inviting one untrained family member to partner with them. Executive-produced by LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell, it’s hosted by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Philip Lawrence.

THEATER

Bradley University Theater will stage The Revolutionist April 20-24 at Hartmann Center on campus.
