Sculpture

Peoria’s new “Sculpture Walk” is now showing. Publicly unveiled on May 21, it features eight new pieces displayed on Washington Street between Liberty Street and the Bob Michel Bridge. Artists are from throughout the country and include two Peoriams, Fisher Stolz and Jaci Willis.

Cinema

“Nope,” another horror movie from Oscar-winning director Jordan Peele (“Get Out,” “Us”), debuts July 22, about horse trainers on a remote ranch coping with oddly restless animals and weird mysteries in the sky.

Comedy

Jukebox Comedy Club has scheduled Marty DeRosa July 8-9 and Mary Lynn Rajskub July 29-30.

Streaming

On July 22, Netflix premieres “The Gray Man,” an action thriller starring Ryan Gosling as a mercenary who stumbles on intelligence secrets and Chris Evans as an ex-colleague leading an effort to silence him.

Television

PBS on July 5 presents “The Great Muslim American Road Trip,” with three episodes of rapper Mona Haydar and her husband Sebastian Robins traveling on Route 66.

Music

  • The Summer Jazz Series at the Betty Jayne Bimmer Center for the Performing Arts continues with Pippi Ardennia & Daniel Leahu July 14 and the Craig Russo Latin Jazz Project July 28.
  • The Derel Montieth Trio and the Central Illinois Jazz Society House band will play July 17 at Trailside Event Center.
  • Greta Van Fleet is bringing the “Dreams of Gold” tour to the Civic Center Arena July 25.

Theater

Eastlight Theatre is presenting the musical comedy “Escape to Margaritaville” July 29-31 and Aug. 3-6, featuring Jimmy Buffett’s music and a book by Emmy Award-winner Greg Garcia.
