Peoria Park District November Activities

YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE AT THE PEORIA PARK DISTRICT – The Peoria Park District hosts the Youth Basketball League, from November 1 through December 26. Youth of all ability levels will learn the skills necessary to enjoy the sport of basketball for life. Participants will develop techniques, knowledge and strategy with emphasis on fun, sportsmanship and fair play.

Practices will be held on Monday & Thursday evenings, and games will be played on Saturday mornings at the RiverPlex. Skill Evaluations are on Nov. 1 at Franciscan Rec Complex. Parent-Athlete-Coach (PAC) Meetings are on Nov. 3 at the RiverPlex.

SPORTS AUCTION & CARD SHOW COMING TO THE RIVERPLEX – The Peoria Park District will host the 14th Annual Sports Auction & Card Show on November 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the RiverPlex. All proceeds benefit youth sports in Peoria.

Starting at 10:00 a.m., sports card collectors will be set up to buy, sell, or trade cards and collectibles. The silent auction items will also be open for bids.  A live auction at 2:00 p.m. will include autographed memorabilia, tickets and items donated by local businesses. This is a great chance to find sports items and cards that are not available anywhere else.

Admission is $1.00 for adults, and free for kids ages 12 and under. Tickets are available at the door.

Raffle tickets are now on sale for $10 at the Glen Oak Park Pavilion or by calling 681-2868. The prizes include a Dick Butkus or Aaron Rodgers autographed jersey and a Tailgate Package (which includes a portable grill, cooler and a $30 gift card to Alwan & Sons Meat Co.). Only 220 tickets will be sold for the raffle.

FRC GAMES, FOOD & FUN DAYS FOR 50+ ADULTS – On Wednesday, November 9 and Wednesday, December 7, 50+ adults can enjoy a day filled with games, food and fun at Franciscan Recreation Complex, 908 Sterling Ave. in West Peoria. This special day – from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – will include: complimentary light breakfast,  Bingo, Wii Bowling, Art classes, “sample” popular fitness classes including yoga, pilates & more, complimentary lunch, open gym time with pickleball, indoor shuffleboard, bags, washer toss, bolo golf,  prizes, snacks and beverages. YOUTH SPORTS FOR AGES 3-12 OFFERED AT PEORIA PARK DISTRICT – The Peoria Park District’s Franciscan Recreation Complex offers various sport programs for ages 3-6 beginning in November, including:

  • • All Star Sports (ages 3-4)
  • • Little Pints Soccer (ages 3-4)
  • • Pee Wees Soccer (ages 5-6)
  • • Floor Hockey (ages 5-6)
  • • Pee Wee Baseball (ages 5-6)

RUN WITH THE PEORIA PARK DISTRICT 41st ANNUAL TURKEY TROT – This oldest race in the Peoria area  will be on November 20 at 1:00 p.m. at Detweiller Park. All entrants of the four-mile run will receive a T-shirt. The top two finishers in each division win a trophy and a certificate for a free turkey, compliments of Kroger.

A Youth Fun Run for boys and girls ages 12 and under will begin at 12:45 p.m. This is a half-mile run in the lower park area. All participants receive a ribbon. Go to:www.peoriaparks.org/running for a printable registration form. Registration forms will be available at all Peoria Kroger stores, Running Central and all Peoria Park District facilities.

Fees are $16 and $14 for IVS members thru Nov. 16. After that, the cost is $18. Youth Fun Run fee is $2 (no t-shirt). Race day registration is between noon and 1:00 p.m. For more info call 681-2866
