Summer camps at Peoria Park District

This summer, the Peoria Park District offers a variety of summer camps, including:

       Ancient Oaks Day Camp: Ages 5-13 – Ancient Oaks Day Camp is all about having fun and educational experiences in the great outdoors. Weekly themes reflect on a variety of fun events and plenty of hands-on activities. Located on 320 acres, Sommer Park consists of woods, open fields, hiking trails, ponds and a neighborhood park. For more information, call Tom Miller at 691-6295.

       CampZone/Early Learners: Ages 4-5 – Come join us for Early Learners, a half-day preschool program held at Glen Oak Park and the Franciscan Recreation Complex in West Peoria. Games, crafts, playtime, lead-up sports activities, and new friends make learning fun and natural. Our activities focus on socialization and early childhood motor development. For more information, contact Steve Montez at 681-2865.

       CampZone at Glen Oak: Ages 6-12 – Campers can choose from a variety of themes from “Walking on the Moon” to “Wizard School.” Fun, non-competitive action themes, with activities such as sports, games, arts and crafts, nature programs, fishing, special events, family nights, weekly swimming, and road trips (special trips). For more information, contact Steve Montez at 681-2865.

       Camp Onstage: Ages 6-13 –Join the cast and crew of Peoria’s premier performing arts camp. Our talented staff will instruct you in drama, dance, and musical skills while campers write an original play to be performed at the Glen Oak Park Amphitheatre.        Fine Arts Camps: Ages 7-12 – Let your imagination run free with hands-on activities in the fine arts designed to challenge your creative skills. Each week has a different focus – art, photography, pottery, magic, and sculpture to name a few!        Proctor Center Summer Fun Academy – This academy is like no other! In addition to the great field trips every Friday, your child will experience an abundance of knowledge combining classes and recreation. For more information, call Proctor Center at 673-9183.

       Summer Band & Orchestra – Join us this summer as we play Country greats from Hank Williams to Taylor Swift. Different skill levels are available. Senior Summer Band is available for high school students (those entering 9th grade included). For more information, contact Linda Elegant Huff at 681-2861.

       Zoo Camp: Grades K-8 – This year, discover “where the wild things are” at the Peoria Zoo. Each session has been tailored to specific age groups and different topics. For more information, call the Peoria Zoo at 681-3513. (Registration taken at Peoria Zoo only.)

       RiverPlex Summer Day Camp: Ages 5-12 – Campers will enjoy a wide variety of activities, including playing in our indoor AquaPlex as well as our outdoor water/sand play area, arts and crafts, health and fitness activities and sport activities in our climate controlled arena. In addition, we have access to a variety of activities such as the Rolling River playground, the RiverFront biking/walking trail, the downtown fountain and much more. For more information, call Andrea Steffens at 282-1508.

Registration starts March 5. Parents registering in person at the Glen Oak Pavilion before April 6 will receive a 10% discount. A multiple-child discount is available after April 6, in which you may register one child at full price and get a 5% discount for each additional child. Parents can take advantage of a scheduled plan that spreads out payments between now and May 25.
