Cordoba Clinic turns no one away


Kyler Shin, second year medical student at University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, checks the knee of Asim Syed who has back and knee pain. Shin is among about six regular medical students who volunteer at Cordoba Healthcare Clinic that accepts patients who need specialty care but are uninsured or underinsured. Syed, a board member at the clinic, is volunteering as a patient for students. All doctors and staff at the clinic which opened in 2016 are volunteers. Peoria City Councilwoman Rita Ali is sponsoring a mayoral proclamation to recognize Cordoba.
