I had decided to try and stay away from politics in my column, particularly my thoughts about the current administration and the mentality of the sycophants that feed it.

My reason was because there is just too much to try and boil it down to a monthly column.

For instance, the decision by many of the networks — particularly NBC and ABC — to forgo airing President Trump’s speech Thursday night. He was pissed; he wants the FCC to yank the licenses of those networks. The First Amendment be damned!

As one or two FCC commissioners noted, that group cannot pull the licenses of the networks for deciding not to air a political speech, even if was from the president.

MAGA was upset, as well (interesting how that acronym has become an entity). I’ve seen posts from there claiming the decision not to air the speech was “communism at its best.” That’s just another example of how many people don’t understand how communism and other ideologies work.

Communism doesn’t allow private companies or freedom of the press. In a Communist society the networks would not have been allowed to make the decision to forgo airing Trump’s speech.

Then there’s the war with Iran. Remember when Trump claimed over and over that we had decimated the Iran armed forces, that they had no military left? What, then, are they using to attack our bases and ships?

The Iranian leader has said the ceasefire agreement signed by Trump a few weeks ago means nothing because Trump’s signature “is worthless and invalid.” Hmmm.

That same Iranian leader said he would not agree to end the war until there is “a regime change” in the United States. I don’t see that happening any time soon, so the consequences of the war that we and innocent Iranians are dealing with will be around a while longer.

It was sad when we recently got excited about gas prices dropping below $4 a gallon. Now we’re wondering how soon they top $5 as we watch other costs escalate, as well.

AARP must have had those fears in mind when it published its most recent monthly magazine. The top story lists “99 Great Ways to Save.” They include cutting power costs, saving on groceries and checking out AARP discounts.

I think I’ll read that one a little more closely. That will give me something to do instead of worrying about election fraud from 2020 perpetrated by the Chinese. Or pondering whether charges will stick against those arrested for vandalizing the reflecting pool when there is zero proof of it.

Maybe I’ll think about how nice it is that Trump has not been accepting his annual $400,000 salary. What a guy! (Of course, there’s the billions he has made in cryptocurrency and investments since becoming president that he would not have made otherwise.)

You know, I’m glad I decided to not write about political stuff this month.
